What is Woven Fusible Interlining?

Woven fusible interlining is a base fabric woven from polyester yarns, coated on one side with thermoplastic polyamide (PA) adhesive. When pressed against a fashion fabric using heat and pressure, the adhesive melts and bonds permanently, providing structural support, shape retention and stiffness to the finished garment.

It is the foundational layer inside every well-structured suit, blazer, sherwani and formal jacket. Without proper woven interlining, garments lose their shape, sag at the chest and do not hold their tailored silhouette through wearing and dry cleaning.

Double Ghoda supplies woven fusible interlining wholesale across India — 30 to 150 GSM — in 50m rolls with PA double-dot coating. All grades are in ready stock at our Bhiwandi warehouse, supplying garment manufacturers in Surat, Delhi, Mumbai, Ludhiana and North India.

  • Excellent finish — smooth, even surface with no bubbling or delamination
  • Soft handle — tailor-friendly performance from first press
  • Superior bonding strength — PA double-dot holds through dry cleaning & wash at 40°C
  • Shrink resistance — controlled shrinkage through strict production testing
  • Tear resistance — woven structure withstands cutting, stitching and pressing pressure
  • Full GSM range — 30 to 150 GSM for every garment weight and construction type
  • Large quantities available — wholesale B2B supply, MOQ 1,000 meters
  • STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® — tested and certified free of harmful substances

GSM Grade Guide — Woven Interlining for Suit Manufacturers

Choosing the right GSM is the most critical decision when sourcing woven fusible interlining for suit manufacturers. Indian garment factories — especially for ethnic formal wear — prefer significantly heavier grades than international markets. The table below shows our full 30–150 GSM range with recommended applications.

Why Indians prefer 100+ GSM: International markets use 30–60 GSM for most garments. Indian ethnic formal wear — particularly sherwanis, bandgala and heavily structured suits — requires 100–150 GSM woven interlining for the structural support the garment demands. This is why Double Ghoda specifically stocks the complete heavy-weight range.

How to Apply Woven Fusible Interlining in a Garment Factory

Applying woven fusible interlining in a production environment requires a flatbed or rotary fusing press set to correct temperature, time and pressure parameters. Below is the standard process used by garment manufacturers when applying Double Ghoda’s woven interlining.

The PA double-dot coating on Double Ghoda’s woven interlining bonds fully at standard factory press settings. The double-dot pattern ensures even adhesive distribution — no weak spots or edge lifting even on heavy 140 GSM sherwani cloth.

Woven vs Non-Woven Interlining — Which to Use?

Understanding the difference between woven interlining and non-woven is essential for suit manufacturers and garment factories to select the right grade for each garment part.

For suits and heavy ethnic formal wear, woven fusible interlining is always the correct choice. Non-woven is suitable only for smaller garment parts where structural rigidity is not required.

Garment Applications — Where Non Woven Interlining is Used

Non woven fusible interlining is used for precision stiffening of specific garment parts — not whole-garment structural support. Here are the most common applications in Indian garment production.

Sherwani

140 GSM — 111 Quality

Full-front woven interlining for sherwani construction. The 111 quality is the industry-standard grade across Surat and North India’s sherwani manufacturing clusters.
Suit & Blazer

80–130 GSM

Full chest and front woven interlining for structured suits and blazers. Provides the shoulder and chest shape that defines a well-cut formal suit. structured cuffs.
Bandgala / Nehru Jacket

100 – 140 GSM

Heavy ethnic formal wear requiring strong woven interlining for shape retention through events and repeated dry cleaning.
Formal Jacket

80–120 GSM

Men’s and women’s formal jacket construction. Front panels, collar area and small parts — woven fusible interlining for the main body.
Safari Suit

80–100 GSM

Full-front woven interlining for safari suit jackets. Structured but not as heavy as sherwani — 80–100 GSM gives the right weight and drape.

Formal Jacket

100–150 GSM

Heavy winter overcoat construction. Maximum GSM woven interlining for full structural support. Used by North India manufacturers for winter formal wear.

Frequently asked questions — woven fusible interlining

Common questions from garment manufacturers, suit factories and sherwani makers about woven fusible interlining, woven interlining grades and application specifications.

Woven fusible interlining is a polyester fabric woven from yarns in both warp and weft directions, coated with PA thermoplastic adhesive. Its woven structure makes it significantly stronger, more durable and better at retaining garment shape than non-woven. Non-woven interlining is made by bonding loose fibres — lighter and cheaper, but with lower structural performance. Use woven for suits, blazers and sherwanis. Use non-woven for collars, cuffs and lighter garment parts.

111 quality is a trade-recognised name for 140 GSM woven fusible interlining, used across India’s sherwani manufacturing clusters — particularly in Surat and Delhi. The name identifies a specific weight, hand-feel and bonding performance that buyers recognise by quality number. Double Ghoda’s 111 quality is our top-selling SKU, stocked specifically for full-front sherwani construction with PA double-dot coating.

For sherwanis: use 140 GSM (111 quality) woven fusible interlining for full-front construction. For suits and blazers: 80–120 GSM is standard depending on fabric weight. For bandgala / Nehru jackets: 100–130 GSM. For safari suits: 80–100 GSM. For woollen overcoats: 120–150 GSM. Indian manufacturers consistently choose heavier woven interlining grades than international standard because ethnic formal wear demands higher structural rigidity.

PA stands for polyamide — the thermoplastic adhesive used to coat woven fusible interlining. Double-dot refers to the scatter pattern in which the adhesive is applied: two coats of adhesive dots are applied in a staggered pattern, increasing surface coverage compared to single-dot grades. This results in faster bonding (18–25 seconds), stronger bonds and better resistance to delamination after washing and dry cleaning — critical for heavy ethnic formal wear.

The minimum order quantity for woven fusible interlining wholesale India from Double Ghoda is 1,000 meters. We are a B2B wholesale supplier only — we do not sell to individual tailors or retail buyers. Woven interlining is supplied in 50m rolls (6 rolls per bale). Contact us for pricing — we provide written quotations with per-meter rate, freight terms and delivery timeline.

150 GSM woven interlining is our heaviest grade — used for maximum structural construction in heavy ethnic formal wear including heavily embroidered sherwanis, woollen overcoats and fully structured jackets. It provides the firmest hand and highest body, and is specified by manufacturers who require maximum shape retention even after heavy embroidery work is added to the garment.

Woven Fusible Interlining FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ) for an Interlining page, along with answers:

Woven fusible interlining is a specific type of material used in sewing to add structure and stability to garments

For a heavyweight woven interlining. For crisp collars and cuffs on shirts or jackets, a medium-weight option works well. A lightweight woven interlining might suffice for adding a touch of stability to a floppy pocket.

Woven fusible interlining offers superior structure, crisp lines, and easy iron-on application for professional-looking garments and projects.

Just cut the woven interlining to match your fabric piece, place the rougher side down on the wrong side of your fabric, iron firmly for a bit, and let it cool. Now your fabric has extra body for crisp collars, pockets, and more!

Consider the desired structure and fabric weight to choose the weight of woven fusible interlining for your project.
